Some people climb mountains on the weekends. I also spend my weekdays moving them.
Marketing has always felt like that to me — a series of summits worth working toward. The hard approach, the unexpected weather, the satisfaction when you finally get there. I've been doing this for over a decade, and I still get that feeling every time a strategy clicks into place.
I'm Anna Garcia, a marketing strategist and consultant based in Portland, Oregon. I founded Anna Garcia Advisory to do the work I love most — getting close to a business, understanding what it actually needs, and building marketing that moves the needle.
My background is a little all over the map — in the best way.
I've spent 10+ years leading and executing marketing across some genuinely different industries: consumer packaged goods with Kellogg's, destination marketing with the Illinois Office of Tourism, retail and e-commerce with Rejuvenation and Shelfology, and healthcare with ZoomCare. That range isn't accidental. I'm drawn to brands with something real to say, and I've learned that great marketing strategy translates across categories more than most people think.
What that breadth gives you: I'm not going to show up with a playbook I've run a hundred times and paste your logo on it. I bring cross-industry pattern recognition — I know what works, I know why it works, and I know how to make it work for you specifically.
Here's what working with me actually looks like.
I operate as a strategic partner, not a vendor. That means I'm in it with you. Thinking about your business like it's my own, asking the questions your internal team might be too close to ask, and staying connected to the work at a level that a big agency simply can't offer.
I'm the person on the phone with you, in the strategy sessions, and in the weeds of your brand.
When I'm not in strategy mode, I'm outside.
Hiking, backpacking, paddle boarding, camping…if it involves the Pacific Northwest and some elevation gain, I'm probably there. I recently added "new mom" to my list of adventures, which has turned out to be the most challenging and rewarding summit of all. Portland suits me well.
